About me

This is me.

Writer-geek, deserter from academia. I like credible sources. I dig data. I’m in awe of statisticians.

I’m taking control of my health.

I have Celiac Disease and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Neither of those is fun. Both complicate your life in incredibly frustrating ways. And both come along with a host of other problems.

I don’t want to be at the mercy of my medical conditions. So I made a decision. You see, I also have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It’s mostly under control these days; I can usually direct my obsessions. So I’m taking my fascination with data, my obsessive researching, and my compulsive need to figure things out… and I’m using them.

I’m not going to find the cure to cancer. Nor am I going to find the cure to Celiac Disease or Sleep Apnea, but you can bet that when someone else does, I’m going to make sure I know about it. In the meantime, I’m going to do everything I can to be healthy and happy.

I’m also going to share whatever I find. My friends and family are kind of stuck with it. Anyone else reading this, well, you can opt in or not. I hope you’ll share whatever you find. Tricks for making life better, new medical developments, wacky theories. Or even just tell me you know what I’m talking about. Because sometimes, you feel like you’re the only one with these problems and it’s good to be reminded you’re not alone.
